Highlighting teams and players, with one player aiming for history.

HOBOKEN, NJ -- The season is winding down here in Hoboken and it's time to recognize some high performing teams and players.

Louise & Jerry's leads the way as they remain undefeated in the Goose Gossage Division. They are pulling away from the field with a daunting 2 game lead over second place Schreib Tribe.

Hudson River Crossfit remains atop the Johnny Bench Division by the narrowest of margins (percentage points) over 10th & Willow.  The two teams are proving themselves to be the powerhouses of the division, but only recently, 10th & Willow gave Crossfit a 14-0 clobbering.

Finally, Hoboken Softball Club is the lead dog in the Dave Parker Division, with Pourhouse Outlaws following closely behind by just half a game.  This division, however, is wide open underneath them.

As for individuals performing at a high level this season, the Thundercats are certainly making themselves known.  They boast the leader in hits and batting average (10 at-bat minimum) in Franklin Johnson and the RBI leader in Eric Smith.  Smith is tailed closely by Brandon Marucci of 10th & Willow and Matt Carroll of AXA 800# Gorillaz, who both trail Smith's 12 RBI's by just one.  Johnson can't get too comfortable in either spot.  He has 17 hits and is batting a whopping .850 on the season.  Carroll is batting .846 while Marucci stands at .842 just behind him.  Marucci is also tied with teammate Chris Dunne at 16 hits, just one behind Johnson.  Jay Weiner of Schreib Tribe sits atop the leaderboards in homeruns at 6, two ahead of a three way tie for second.  The tie includes Anthony Caba of Hoboken Softball Club, Tony Muccioli of Louise & Jerry's, and Carroll.

While some teams are securing their playoff spots, there is plenty left to play for with regard to both team and individual achievements.  Teams are still jockeying for their final seeding, and we have some tight races towards the top of these leaderboards.  Matt Carroll is the player to keep an eye on, as he looks to make history and contends for the triple crown in batting average, homeruns, and RBI's. However, Thundercats may have something to say about this and look to play spoiler.
