We're not quite half-way through the Spring Men's Softball season, but we do have some tight races for the playoffs. Currently, there are 10 playoff spots with a division rival within a single game of the current team, and we have a whopping 19 teams fighting for those 10 spots. The remaining 6 spots have built a slight cushion over the rest of the pack, but are still duking it out amongst each other.
Even the division leaders can't get too comfortable. Of the four, only 1 is more than a game ahead of the second place team. McSwiggans Pub, Good Wood, and North Bergen Dawgs have asserted themselves as the only remaining undefeated teams.
McSwiggans Pub is battling Good Wood for the top seed of the Dale Murphy division, with a June 11th showdown scheduled.
North Bergen Dawgs is trying to hold off the one-loss Warriors in the Dave Winfield divsion, with their matchup being postponed due to rain this past weekend.
The remaining division leaders are WAKA/Cooper Place and L.O.B., both with a 7-1 record.
WAKA/Cooper Place is trying to fend off Taino's, who handed them their only loss of the season in a split, in the Mike Schmidt divisional race. Taino's currently sits at 6-2 and will need help to gain the top seed.
L.O.B. has taken a slightly more comfortable 2 game lead (3 in the win column) of the Rod Carew division.
What does all of this mean? We may be in for a wild ride, but there are plenty of games left on the docket. With so many teams still in it, we have some interesting softball ahead, including matchups for division leads. Good luck to all involved and let the best teams make the tournament in July/August, where anything can happen.
