It was a beautiful day for a Double Header in Clifton & the NJ Expos & Lumbersexuals went head to head in a 2 game series battle.
Game 1, I think my pen was running out of ink due to the amount of runs scored combined, "51" total runs. For the Lumbersexuals, all 11 players scored at least 1 run. 2 Players tied for the lead in RBI's with 5 each (Jerejian & Guida). When his hamstring wasn't hurting, Betantcourt smashed a 2 run Homer in the 4th inning which contributed to the 10 total runs in the 4th by the Lumbersexuals. Speaking of pulling hamstrings, I think I witnessed 3 players pull a hammy rounding bases. At 35 years of age, this is why I no longer play & stand behind the ump keeping stats:). Once you hit 30, ughhhh!
The NJ Expos had a solid first game. Scoring 24 runs isn't an easy task, but it just wasn't enough. Leading the way was Rob who went 3 for 3, 6 RBIs, 2 HR's & a walk. Team Captain Matt had a nice game as well batting 1.000 with 5 singles & a RBI. I suppose the biggest thing throughout the entire 2 game series was Steve "X". His vocal cords must be sore. He was getting his NJ Expos pumped throughout the contest, had some funny 1 liners as well. "Eating the plate, I'm hungry" - That's a new one on me!
Game 1 Final
Lumbersexual - 27
NJ Expos - 24
Game 2 you could tell players were tired. I mentioned the pulled hammys, but Expos forgot to bring their bats. Scoring only 8 runs in this one. Lead off man Jorge had a 3 run bomb in the top of the 5th to give the team some much needed life, but it was too late.
The Lumbersexuals scored 15 runs in Game 2, adding 3 insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th. Pitcher Flemming gets 2 wins back to back at the mound.
The doubleheader between these 2 teams definitely brought back memories of guys busting each other's chops & just being relentless about it!
