JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Going into this game, we at the league office picked the Goodfellas to win a close one. We're sure glad we didn't bet real money:).  

It was speed vs. size.  The Goodfellas led 19-17 at the half. Nice tight first half.  The 2nd half of this one was completely 1-sided.  The Good Fellas, known for the fast paced offense, were just a bit sloppy & seemed out of sorts.  Don't get me wrong, having a fast pace offense helps keep the defense off their toes & given the size & average age of the ABB Ballers, the game plan was solid.  

Execution however, was not.  

Kevin Johnson & Tymel Jackson have been an outstanding tandem together this year, but in the final, they combined for "5" points. Yikes!  Corey Edwards who is a good player, got into foul trouble early with 4 fouls at the end of the 1st half:(Ahsan added his normal 3 balls, 9 points total)

ABB Ballers got inside Kevin's head & it only got worse as the game progressed.  The effort was there, but again, execution lacked.  ABB Ballers were solid in the 2nd half, shutting down Johnson & Jackson.  

Offensively, I would give CO-MVPS again to Robert Bates & Buck Nasty.  Bates is just reliable.  He takes 5 shots a game & hits 4.  He gets to the line, hits his free throws & calls it a day.  He led the way with 17 points, draining "3" 3-Pointers!  Buck Nasty had his normal double/double w/ 11 points & 12 boards & 4 or 5 outbursts that are always funny to witness.  

Big man Robert Cheeks had a solid game as well adding 13 points, 6 boards & 3 blocks!  The ABB Ballers want to play the Wolfpack, winners of the Charles Oakley Division. should we make it happen?

Maybe next season....the spring league kicks off in May, be sure to lock in your spot before the April 30 deadline!
