JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Game 1 of the 2017 ABL Winter Basketball Season featured a matchup between the Warriors and Probably Hungover.
The Warriors got off to a hot start, jumping out to an early lead behind the sharp shooting of Tom Betros. Betros nailed three 3-pointers and finished the first half with 13 points. The halftime whistle had the Warriors on top by a score of 25-13.
Probably Hungover seemed to be suffering from the holiday hangover with some struggles on offense early. However, they would get back on track early in the 2nd half, fueled by the shooting of Oliver Kaljuvee, who scored all 10 of his points after the halftime buzzer.
Betros kept his hot hand going after the break, adding another 7 points to the Warriors total and finishing with a game-high 20. He would also account for 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Ben Carr was “Mr. Do It All” for Probably Hungover, posting 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals. With the game getting tight late, Probably Hungover began fouling with just over 1 minute remaining. However, Eric Gliebe had ice in his veins, knocking down all 6 of his free throws late to put the game away. Probably Hungover would get close, but never took the lead, falling short to the Warriors by a score of 43-40. The Warriors (1-0) take on the Hawks (0-1) next week.
