Shorthanded Misfits blitz the Toastface Killahs 21-9

BERT WILLIS FIELD -- "Only 9 players show up? No problem. One less outfielder? That's ok. Automatic out in the 9 spot? Yeah, that'll work". That was some of the pre-game chatter at Bert Willis field Tuesday evening.

Under what started out gray and gloomy turned out to be a spectacular light show in the sky and on the field.

The Misfits (2-0) offense led by Player of the Game Kyle Hardie who hit for the cycle (4-4, 3R, 4RBI) exploded for 30 hits and 21 runs. Tommy Gunz (4-5, 4R), Carla (5-5, 3R, 2RBI), Chris (5-5, 2R, 3RBI) and Riyan (3-5, 2R, 3RBI) also had huge contributions.

Even more impressive than the bats were the outfield play of Riyan and Chris who laid out and made a diving catch in left center that is an early contender for web gem of the season.

Despite great game from Volt (3-3, 2R, 2RBI), Matty (2-3, 2R, 3RBI) and Dini (3-3, R, 2, RBI), the Toastface Killahs had too many scoreless innings and could not keep pace.

Toast will have a chance to get back to their winning ways next week when the are the double header team. Meanwhile the 2-0 Misfits will take on Bond St in the their last tune up before their highly anticipated date with last season's champs, Make it a Double.
