Fiesty Complex put up a Fight but Fall Just Short

PLAYOFFS -- After 5 innings Tuesday evening, there were murmurs of a possible upset brewing at Bert Willis Field. With Make it a Double clinging to a slim 2-0 lead everyone wondered if this was the night David would slay Goliath.

A 5 run outburst in the 6th inning was capped by a JoAnn Hickey (2-4, 2R, 2RBI) line drive to left that sailed over the defense for a 2 run double. And with that MIAD was on their way to the Final Game.

Make it a Double also got big efforts from Mike Shephard (3-4, 2R, RBI) who was a homer shy of the cycle, Daniel Vererese (3-3, R) showed off his arm all night from third and player of the game Brian Dombrowski (3-4, 2R, 3RBI) who displayed why he was the league leader in hits.

The Complex made a late surge with the help of Joe B (4-4, R), Shawna (3-4, 2R) and Charlie (3-4, 2R) who made two absolute web gems in left center robbing extra base hits and keeping the game within reach.

The Complex was easily the most improved team from week one and I fully expect them to continue that improvement and be a thorn in the side of everyone they play come the fall season.

As for Make it a Double, they punched their ticket to the dance, they would just have to wait and see who their dance partner will be.
