Front Flags = Ball Grabs avenge their only loss on the season and take home the Bruce Smith Division crown.

The Bruce Smith Division Championship had finally arrived, as one loss Front Flags = Ball Grabs took on undefeated Wolves of 10th & Willow.  The only thing that stood between Wolves of 10th & Willow and their perfect season was Front Flags = Ball Grabs, a team that they had beaten pretty handedly during the regular season.  But, we know the old say: any given Sunday.  When your season comes down to one, forty minute game, throw records and history out of the window.  This was anyone’s game.  The only blemish on Front Flags = Ball Grabs’ otherwise perfect season came at the hands of their championship opponent.  Both teams understood that this would be no easy task.  They had to be at their very best as they battled each other and the blazing summer heat.  As expected from two of the more dominant teams in our league, a great game ensued.  However, only one team could prevail, and this day belonged to Front Flags = Ball Grabs.  They got the ultimate revenge for an early season loss and stole the championship crown.

The two teams came into the game pretty evenly matched, but Wolves of 10th & Willow held the slight advantaged compared to their opponent.  They boasted a 9-0 record, 254 points scored, and 112 points allowed for a +142 point differential.  Meanwhile, Front Flags = Ball Grabs stuck close with their 8-1 record, 252 points scored, and 138 points allowed for a +114 point differential.  Both exhibited respectfully dominant seasons.  As for individuals, both teams placed players toward the top of the leaderboards.  Isai Carillo of Wolves of 10th & Willow finished 2nd in completions and completion percentage (minimum 50 attempts), 4th in touchdown passes, and 3rd least in interceptions thrown (minimum 50 attempts).  Brett Pariser of Front Flags = Ball Grabs, not to be outdone, finished tied for 3rd in completions, 5th in completion percentage (minimum 50 attempts), 1st in touchdown passes, and tied for 4th least in interceptions thrown (minimum 50 attempts).  Dan Blackton of Front Flags = Ball Grabs tied for 2nd in touchdown receptions, while Nick Vier of Wolves of 10th & Willow tied for 9th in touchdown receptions.  Dave Lynch and Josh Biegel of Front Flags = Ball Grabs tied for 1st and 4th in sacks respectively.  Isai Carillo of Wolves of 10th & Willow also tied for 4th in sacks and tied for 2nd in interceptions.  Alan Trojan of Front Flags = Ball Grabs and Travis King of Wolves of 10th & Willow were among those tied for 8th in interceptions.  These numbers aren’t just for the Bruce Smith Division; they are league-wide standings.

Come game-time, these two high performing teams did not disappoint.  Wolves of 10th & Willow took an early lead in the game, but Front Flag = Ball Grabs answered right back.  Both teams took care of the ball in the first half, as championship teams do, and played field position.  Front Flags = Ball Grabs would take a less than comfortable 12-6 lead heading into the half.  The offenses moved the ball a bit better in the second half, possibly as the defenses began to tire in the heat.  Wolves of 10th & Willow again took an early lead in the half by a score of 13-12.  Just like the first half, however, Front Flags = Ball Grabs would fire back.  They’d steal the lead back and Alan Trojan came up with a huge interception in their own territory that would lead to the game sealing score.  With no surrender in them, Wolves of 10th & Willow would score again to bring the total to 25-20, but there was just not enough time to complete the comeback.  Front Flags = Ball Grabs did what they set out to do in the beginning of the season and took home the Bruce Smith Division Championship, simultaneously avenging their only defeat of the season.
