Sticky Bandits Caught Red Handed by Mills Tavern

HOBOKEN, April 26 - The Sticky Bandits (0-3) showed up to Mama J's last night in search of their first big score as they tried to steal a win from Mills Tavern (1-1).

The night started off with Mills Tavern jumping all over the Bandit defense as they put up ten runs in the first two innings. Once the Bandits warmed up though they started to make this game uncomfortably close by chipping away slowly at that early lead and also playing some really good defense.

Bandits 3B Sam Bocholini in particular was pulling off some gold glove plays and robbed a few key hits from Mills Tavern with her fancy glove work and accurate arm. Including one screamer that she snagged out of the air off the bat of Mills slugger Dan Lyons.

The Bandits managed to hold back the Mills offense by only allowing one additional run on top of the ten they scored in the first two frames, all the while they were sneaking in runs of their own.

The seventh and final inning started with a score of 11 -6 in favor of Mills, so they were in striking distance, but they only managed to bring in one run.

Mills Tavern got big performances from Dan Lyons who had 4 RBI and Mark Young with 3 RBI.

For the Bandits it was James Appleton and Ken Varon leading the way as both put up 3 RBI.

The Bandits will go for their first win Monday May 2nd against Hoboken Softball Club at Mama J's, while Mills Tavern will go on to play Mongo Nation Sunday May 1st at Pershing Field.
