Mongo Nation Edges Out Slingers for B League Title

HOBOKEN, September 15 -- A defensive battle is a rarity in the ABL co-ed League, but last night relative newcomers Mongo Nation and highly decorated veterans the Slingers played a conservative brand of ABL softball for the B League Championship.

Each team put up a lone run in the first inning, and then the scoring just stopped for a while...a long while.

Mongo Nation did manage to hit quite a bit throughout the game, but the Slingers kept coming up clutch defensively to keep them off the board.

The Mongo defense was utterly stifling though the entire game. The Slinger offense was completely held in check.

It was not till the 10th and final inning that another run would cross the plate, and the game would come to a close in a somewhat anti-climatic manner.

Mongo Nation's Amelia Schimmel hit a soft roller to the third base side with bases loaded and two outs, and the ball was hit soft enough that the play at third was extremely close.

The runner was called safe and the winning run scampered across the plate for a walk off. Both benches erupted with obvious contrasting emotions after the extremely close play.

Congratulations to Mongo Nation on their ABL B League Title.
