Schreib Tribe Beats Ballbusters for Summer A League Title

HOBOKEN, September 15 - Schreib Tribe and Riverfront Carwash Ballbusters put the dispute for ultimate ABL co-ed softball supremacy to an end last night in what would turn out to be an all out slug festival.

The Ballbusters were the visiting team in the contest, and Mike Brizz started the show off with a two-run bomb in the second at bat of the night.

The Tribe would answer back with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but the Ballbusters hammered them right back with four runs in the second as once again Mike Brizz went yard with two outs, but this time for a four-banger.

The frustration on Schreib Tribe's pitcher Jay Gurtman's face was evident after the grand slam by Brizz, but he picked himself up and got the final out.

The Tribe would let up another three runs in the following frame, but they managed to tighten up keep the Ballbusters off the board for three consecutive innings. All the while they were chipping away at the lead.

In the sixth inning the Tribe finally surpassed their rival  on the scoreboard as Lauren Gelmetti drove in Greg Bottita with a triple, followed by a two run shot by Greg Fuchs to put the tribe up 12-9.

Once the Tribe took the lead they refused to let it go as they rode their late game momentum, along with a game-busting Grand Slam HR by captain Adam Schreiber, to a 20-15 victory.

Schreiber, who founded the team, went 5 for 6 with 6 RBI's in the biggest game of their season, and had this to say:

"It was such a battle. They used all of their HR's in the first 4 innings. Then we pounced. It was an epic game. Battle the whole way! This win felt really good. Great to finally take home the Title."

Congratulations to the Schreib Tribe for taking the highest of ABL co-ed honors
