Swigs Mount Late Game Comeback Against Ballbusters

HOBOKEN, August 10 - McSwiggans Pub (3-2) and Riverfront Carwash Ballbusters (3-2) put on quite a show Monday Night in the final game of the evening.

The Ballbusters got the jump on Swigs early putting up seven runs in the first three innings.

Ballbuster Mike Brizz started off the festivities with a towering two-run shot  in the first inning. One of his two homers on the night on the way to a 3 for 3, 2 HR and 3 RBI night.

Not only were the bats popping for the Ballbusters, but the defense was completely shutting down the high-powered McSwiggans offense.

Through the first five innings Swigs could not muster a single run on the Ballbusters, and it seemed the game was locked down and in the books already, but the sleeping giant Swigs offense was rattled from their slumber in the sixth inning.

Randy Williams managed to get on base with a single to lead it off, and then Krissy Cheeka finally broke the seal with a well placed opposite field single to drive him in.

Once Swigs got that run it seemed the team had come alive, as they put up five runs in the sixth inning. Finally came the bottom of the seventh and the magic number for Swigs was four.

After two consecutive walks to Jim Pilla and Sue Barra it was once again Randy Williams coming up huge with a three-run shot to put Swigs within one.

With the bases clear Swigs practiced patience once again with three consecutive walks to load the bases, and Alex Bially made the best of it in the final at bat with a looping single to right field for a walk off RBI single.

Swigs and the Ballbusters now both stand at 3-2 in their division to cause a serious log-jam in the upper division with all teams holding three wins on the season.
