Schreib Tribe Keeps Swigs out of the Win Column

HOBOKEN, July 14 - Schreib Tribe refused to grant McSwiggans the benefit of their first Summer Season victory Monday night in their season opener, which ended with a 9-6 score in the Tribe's favor.

The loss drops Swigs to 0-2 in the young season, but the season is just that...young. If history shows any indication on the future outcome Swigs should rebound once they hit their stride.

The Tribe managed to jump on Swigs pitcher Randy Williams early with a handy three run second inning, and while Swigs would slowly start to fight back they could never gain enough ground against the solid Tribe defense to redeem their early game woes.

Josh Elmore blasted three solo-shots for Swigs as he tried to rip his teams from the jaws of defeat with feats of strength, but it was not enough.

The Tribe's stout defense was certainly a key factor in the victory, but Greg Fuchs' three RBI night didn't hurt either. Pitcher Jason Gurtman and Eric Sossin both collected three hits in the winning effort.
