Another Chapter in the Swigs and Louise and Jerry's Rivalry

HOBOKEN, June 29 - McSwiggans Pub and Louise and Jerry's went at it again last night in their semi-final championship game. To say there is no love lost between these two grade-A squads is an understatement.

While there may be some tension between the two teams, the fact remains that both of them are simply great teams, and they respect each other's ability, but once the competition starts the gloves come off, clinchers get flattened into pancakes and runs start scoring at a neck-break pace.

In a division where it seems homeruns are more of a choice than a thing of luck, the Louise and Jerry's squad seemed to save their long balls for key RBI producing moments.

If anyone displayed the ability to pop off when needed it was LJ's Anthony Mucielli. The batting lineup shows him as a lead-off hitter, but he did not play that role in a stereotypical fashion Monday night.

Anthony blasted three homeruns in the game and was responsible for 9...yes 9 of the runs batted in for LJ. The final one came in the bottom of the 9th inning with bases loaded in a tie game.

The horrific part about the homerun was that the game could have been over in favor of Swigs on a two-out grounder near second base hit by Angel Romano. While Romano's speed may have played a factor in the bumbled play: there were outs to be made all over the diamond, and unfortunately the Swigs could not find one of them. The misplay allowed a run to score tying the game.

The next batter would be Anthony Mucielli who would seize the opportunity and be dubbed the hero of the night.

LJ will go onto compete in the championship game now and the Swigs will have to put this game behind them and prepare for next season, which surely will consist of more fantastic games between these two long time rivals.
