ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, May 17 - Not a punch was thrown, nor any gun's were fired on Sunday morning in the quiet town of Englewood Cliffs!

All the noise coming off  Witte Field was the sounds of the bats of the Monarchs and Cliff Dwellers in the Men's slow-pitch softball legaue.
Did you ever watch a really good slow-pitch softball game?  I'm sure we all have a number of times.

Well that's what I experienced in the first of two over the weekend with the Monarchs and Cliff Dwellers.

Talk about a game that went back and forth and not a sense of who would win.  In this game neither team was more than 3 runs ahead of its opponent going into the 7th inning.  But with the very last out of the game,
the Monarchs held onto and outlasted the Cliff Dwellers by a score of 13 -12. A great job of both teams competitive nature to keep fighting to the end!

Monarch hitters Brian and Gabe each produced perfect 3 for 3 at bats.  Team captain Steve D. contributed another 2  for 2 at the plate.  The three Monarch players along with teammate Max Lara drove in 3 RBI's each.

For the Cliff Dwellers, who were extremely patient at batters were able to draw 4 walks in the game. Tom Leung was perfect at the plate with 3 for 3 including a Home Run and 3 RBI's. Ed Jacobo also had a very nice day with a 3 for 4 and matched teammate Tom's 3 RBI's.

In the second game, it appeared the Cliff Dwellers could not establish any traction and the Monarchs gained an early lead and in turn victory with a 17-5 final score.   The timely hitting of the Monarchs put this one out of
reach by the 4th inning!  Monarch batters James and Gabe each had 4 for 4 at the plate.  Drew and Al each contributed 3 for 3 perfect at bats and 4 RBI's each as well.   But Brian's 5 Monarch RBI's and 2 H/R's along
with scoring 3 times was a one man wrecking crew against the Cliff Dwellers team.  Rounding out this hitting attack was Alex going 3 for 4 and 3 RBI's and crossing the plate twice.

On the other side, Cliff Dwellers' Henan Mujica went 2 for 3 with and RBI and score and teammate John Lopez had a 1 for 2 at bats and produced 2 RBI's.
