Sons of Pitches NJ Off to Torrid Start

NUTLEY, April 26 - Sons of Pitches New Jersey has been with the ABL a long time. They have had all kinds of seasons. Seasons with players in the race for MVP awards, seasons where they seemed to have lost their way, and seasons where they seemed unstoppable.

The start of the this particular Spring Season seems to be one where they might just be unstoppable. With two more wins added on Sunday morning over Monarchs SOPNJ has improved to a sterling 6-0 record, good for best in the East Division thus far.

To what can we credit this amazing start? From watching the game you would think it was the defense. The SOPNJ infield is absolutely a top notch defensive unit. Shortstop Jomar Castillo and third baseman Jason DeJesus were flashing the leather all day Sunday with absolutely brilliant plays over and over.

if a ball skips a few times on the way to first base on an errant throw...Joey Fienstein will scoop it up.

Thomas Romano usually mans the hill for the squad and he is also no slouch as an infielder from the hill.

While the defense has been hard to ignore the offense is really clicking right now so SOPNJ is just playing all around sound ball. Sure team's get streaky and sometimes when the pressure is on the mindset can change the complexion of the game, but this team simply looks good right now.

There is only one other undefeated team in the East and that is Minotaur at 2-0. The two teams will meet up next weekend in Clifton to rectify the lack of crooked numbers residing on each side's loss column.
