The Wolfpack Refuses to Lose

HOBOKEN, March 20 -- Few teams have walked away from an ABL Basketball season without feeling the sting of a loss. Last season UC Slaughterhouse accomplished the feat, and this season the Wolfpack of the Kyrie Irving Division are making a push for an unbeaten season as they improve to 7-0 with just one game left on the docket.

Their formula is a team oriented approach and a two headed monster in Josh Heyer and Andrew Capek. Heyer sits at eighth in the league wide scoring leader list with 96 points, and Capek just barely misses being on the list with 82 points on the season.

The stand out statistic for both the before mentioned players is not their ability to score though, it is their defense. Capek and Heyer both have 17 steals on the season, and steals create scoring chances on top of scoring chances. The Wolfpack have always been a solid defensive team especially in terms of the steals category over the years.

This season they are the biggest group of thieves in the league as they lead all teams with 67 steals, and are third in assist with 56.

The undefeated season so far can certainly not be chalked up to lack of competition. The Kyrie Irving Division is packed with power teams. Recent champions Charliewang Express were undefeated themselves up until a few weeks ago. It was of course the Wolfpack that ended their glorious charge.

Despite the loss to the Wolfpack, Charliewang Express poses the most immediate threat to the Wolfpack in post-season play, but the middle of the road teams like Below the Rim, HFC and Class of the 90's have all proved dangerous in their own right.

As of right now the Wolfpack is absolutely the team to beat, and if you want to beat them you can't let their defense stifle you out of the game, because they have proven that they will capitalize on most mistakes by their opponent.

With roughly two weeks of division play left in the Kyrie Division teams are starting to feel the pressure, but if any team can sit back and relax its the Wolfpack, but something tells me this pack will not slow it's pace.
