Changing of the Guard

Fresh Faces Atop the Boozer Division Standings

JERSEY CITY, February 22 -- Every season is different. New players come, new teams are formed, and records are broken. Teams get new players and hone their skills.

The ABL Basketball Carlos Boozer Division seems to be undergoing a changing of the guard of sorts. A fledgling team by the name of Chat Rooms are Still Cool stands atop the standings with a 3-0 record, while teams like the Tigers and Snipers, who have been very solid squads over the years sit at the bottom of the heap with 1-3 records.

Slow and Steady, another team new to the league is also hanging with the big boys with a 3-1 record just behind the veteran D2 squad who stands at 2-0.

Goodfellas is also making a point to be noticed. With their recent defeat of the Tigers they stand at 2-2, but up till now their schedule has been nothing shy of brutal. They handed Slow and Steady their only loss, lost a very close game to the undefeated Chat Rooms are Still Cool, then lost another very close game to Slow and Steady and most recently beat the Tigers by a slim margin of three points.

One veteran team that is not struggling is D2. D2 is a bit behind on the schedule with only two games played due to their advancement in the Winter Classic Tournament, but they are dispatching the teams they play against with ease in the regular season. Their ability to score from just about anywhere and their ability to dominate the rebound game makes them a very hard team to beat, and the favorite to take the division, but they also have not met up with the likes of Chat Rooms are Still Cool and Slow and Steady yet.

Change is good though. It creates a shakeup, and breeds competition within the league. Granted the season is still young. Being 1-3 is by no means a death sentence, and there is still quite a bit of basketball to play, but you have to wonder if these new teams are the real deal, and you also have to wonder if the veteran squads like the Snipers and Tigers can claw out of the hole they are in. They certainly have the talent, and the experience.
