It Took Three

Louise & Jerry's are Fall Co-Ed Champions

HOBOKEN, November 24 - Familiar foes Louise & Jerry's Hit Squad and McSwiggan's Pub were the last two teams left standing for the ABL Fall North Title

The two have clashed many times before and every time both teams mash and crash softballs all over the field, and fire rockets from afar to gun down would-be scorers.

The two super-power never crash into each other at anything less than full speed, and a championship contest's weight creates a thundering collision that is rarely one sided.

Game 1

Swigs would take game one after not relinquishing the lead they gained in the 4th inning of 9-4. The Hit Squad fought back by putting up five runs in the 5th, two in the 6th and one in the seventh, but Swigs had been tacking on insurance runs to their lead during the Hit Squad resurgence, and held them off for a score of 16-12.

Game 2

Louise and Jerry's came into game two with their back against the wall down 1-0 in  a best of three game series, but they did not fold under pressure. Highlighted by an eight run 4th inning where is seemed the Hit Squad was incapable of hitting into an out.

The fateful 4th was kick started with a lead-off single by Cheeka followed by a single from Stephanie SoaresLefty then launched a three run shot driving them in. After that the Hit Squad was locked and loaded as the lineup thrived in the eight run inning.

Louise & Jerry's would take game two 18-16.

Game 3

So it would take three to settle the championship. No one expected anything less, and of course game three would feature a come from behind walk off seventh inning.

After a back and forth affair Swigs would go on defense in the final inning holding a slim one run lead. Jude Bracken would reach base to start off the inning. Angel Romano hit into a fielder's choice and stood on first representing the tying run for Louise & Jerry's.

Cheeka managed to sneak on base after a Swigs fielding error and Chris "Cutty" Lyons stepped to the plate with the weight of the championship on his shoulders.

Cutty thrived in the moment as he sent a ball soaring over the left field fence for a three run walk off homer to win the championship for the Hit Squad.

Both teams left it all out on the field in this epic battle, but there can be only one champion. Congratulation to Louise & Jerry's Hit Squad on their 2014 ABL Fall Title.
