Wilfork Solidifies Playoff Position After Comeback Attempt from Highlighters

On November 12th, Wilfork on the First Date faced off against Highlighters in a matchup of 4-3 and 3-4 teams respectively. Highlighters were looking for a win to get to .500 and be even with Wilfork.

This game turned out to be a tale of two halves as Wilfork dominated the first half. QB Carl Smith of WIlfork showed off his speed once again as he was able to run it in for a touchdown from almost the length of the field. Smith ended up with a decent game from the QB slot, throwing just about 50% with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. For the Highlighters, the game started off on the wrong foot with a sack for safety, as the ball went sailing over QB Frank Almanzar’s head.

It wouldn’t be until a few minutes into the 2nd half that Highlighters got on the board as Frank Almanzar connected with WR Ray Williams for one of 2 touchdowns for the pair on the evening. With Ray Williams reeling in his 2nd touchdown of the night, the score became 15-13 in Wilfork’s favor, with Highlighters greatly regretting the opening safety they gave up.

QB Carl Smith was able to connect for another touchdown to WR Mike Simonelli to extend the lead to 21-13. With a stop on the conversion, Highlighters had another chance to score, but their comeback came up short as the team turned the ball over on downs. With the loss, Highlighters were eliminated from playoff contention, while Wilfork goes into the first round up against 10th and Willow.
