Swigz takes best of 3 series against Louise & Jerry's 2 to 1

SUNDAY, October 26th---it was another epic best of 3 series between McSwiggans Pub and Louise & Jerry's Hit Squad for the Hoboken Coed Softball Summer championship.  The first two games of the series both had electrifying performances that were both decided by 1 run as Swigz took the first game by the score of 15 to 14.  L & J wasted no time as they answered back in game 2 winning it 14 to 13.

The pressure was on as there was one game left to decide the fate of both teams’ season, but McSwiggan’s offense was hard to stop as their bats put on another spectacular performance.  Swigz Randy & Jackie Williams did an excellent job batting in the one and two spots in the batting order.  The dynamic duo were thorns in the side of their opponents on the base paths as both players went 3 for 4 scoring a combined 3 runs.

The top of the order for McSwiggans weren’t the only players swinging a hot bat.  Swigz Debra Noble went 3 for 3 hitting in a run, but she was a preview to what was to come.

Every time Swigz Josh Elmore stepped up to the plate, it felt like the scene from the movie Jurassic Park when the camera zooms in on the cup of water.  The audience felt something major about to happen as they heard the loud stomps causing the water ripples in the cup.  The reason why I reference this is because almost every time Josh has stepped up to the plate, he crushes a homerun.  ABL sometimes wonders if Jim Pilla is some kind of mad scientist who created this monster in a softball laboratory in his basement.  Once again, Josh went 3 for 3, crushing 3 homeruns.

The final game of the 3 game series wasn’t all offense as McSwiggans arms made two crucial plays that were game changers.  L & J were starting to rally as they had men on 1st and 2nd base with two outs.  There was a hard hit ball to centerfield where Sean Pardue played the ball perfectly off the fence.  L & J’s runner was rounding 3rd base as Sean’s cannon of an arm threw the ball to the pitcher Randy Williams, who then relayed it to home to get the runner out on the tag sliding into home plate.

Big games create big plays as Swigz turned an inning ending double play late in the game.  The ball was hit hard to pitcher Randy Williams who made a heads up play throwing it to shortstop Dan Clark who stepped on 2nd base and gunning it to 1st base to get the runners out.

Both McSwiggans Pub and Louise & Jerry’s Hit Squad wear their hearts on their sleeves when they are on the field playing.  Their match ups against one another are always extremely entertaining.  This rivalry isn’t over by a long shot, but wrapping up the summer season is over as Swigz took the 3 games series when winning game 3 with a score of 13 to 4.
