Slingers Rake in Two Wins in One Night

HOBOKEN, October 28 -- The Slingers came into Monday night's round of games with a 3-2 record in the South Division just two games behind the seemingly unstoppable Murderers Row (7-0).

With two games on the schedule for Monday the Slingers had a chance to even out the standings a little bit and they did just that.

In their first game against Farkle they kept a steady hitting pace as they tallied runs in every inning except for the 5th. Farkle went with a much different approach...

Let's call it the Rob Lennon Strategy. Rob accounted for six RBI on two long balls in the contest. Towering shots to deep left field.

With an 8-4 lead Jason Orr took to the mound for slingers to try and hold off Farkle in the final inning. Little did he know he was falling directly into the trap set by Farkle, as the Rob Lennon Strategy was in full affect. Orr walked Casey Gorman an allowed Alex Bially to reach on a single. Low and behold Rob Lennon steps to the plate and bang-zoom, to the moon Alice!

Lennon tacked on another three runs with the dinger, but Orr and the Slingers managed to hold off Farkle for an 8-7 victory.

With one game in the books and the Slingers coming off an extremely close game they re-tied their shoe laces, pulled up their socks and got ready for another barn burner with Stewed Cows.

Slingers allowed a run in the top of the first, but six-upped Stewed cow with seven runs in the bottom of the frame. The Stewed Cows would fight back though, as they scattered six runs across the next six innings with some timely hitting to all fields.

The Slinger's strong first inning and four insurance runs in the later frames were enough to hold off Stewed Cow to secure a second victory on the night. The two wins put Slingers in second place with a 5-2 record.
