Belly Busters leave bad taste in Pitches’ mouth

MONDAY, April 21, 2014 -- HOBOKEN, NJ -- The Belly Busters made their season debut this past Monday night, taking on Where My Pitches At? on this cool, crisp night at Mama Johnson Field.  Both teams brought their gloves in this defensive battle, where every little mistake was magnified into a game changer in this highlight reel.

Pitches Britany Godsell tied the game up 1 to 1 with her RBI sac fly in the 4th inning.  But the offensive momentum was blocked by Belly Busters shortstop Ryan NeugebauerRyan had an outstanding game in the field, turning any hit towards him into an automatic out.

The Belly Busters did run into some trouble in the 6th inning.  Pitches Jennifer Benensky smacked an RBI to give her team a 2 to 1 lead with runners still on 1st and 2nd and 1 out.  Belly Busters’ catcher Samantha Santola made a great grab off a foul ball to get the 2nd out.  Her teammate Tara Writt flashed some leather at second base, ending the inning with a tremendous snag off a hard hit ground ball.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Belly Busters started to put some hits together.  Pitches’ outfielders Jessie Wos and Greg Fuchs didn’t make life easy with their two incredible back-to-back plays which stole 2 hits away from their opposition.

There were two outs with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Belly Buster Ray Denick stepped up to the plate.  Ray hit a monster shot to left field, it kept going going going, hitting the apartment building.  It was definitely one of the longest homeruns at Mama Johnson Field.  Ray finished the game going 2 for 3, with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs.  The Belly Busters defeated Where My Pitches At 4 to 2.

Teams feel good going into a Belly Buster challenge, only to leave with a stomach full of regret.
